_a0242809_15312415.jpg

I feel like going to Kyoto but it is not easy visiting distance of travelling to Kyoto for me, so I went to see the exhibition of a Japanese landscape gardener Shigemori Mirei_Garden of Triones held at Watarium meseum as an alternative choice instead of visiting Kyoto.
A part of full-size replica from his representative works and also debut piece located in Kyoto are dispayed there .
I didn't have any special interest in Japanese Garden, but It gives me a sense of peace from seeing Samon for some reason.
It is a sense of Japanese.
I like the sound of walking on gravel .

Shigemori Mirei(1896-1975) was a Japanese represented landscape gardener who taught about Japanse garden to Isamu Noguchi, loved a tea ceremony and Japanese traditional culture.
His best achievement was to spend 3 years to study and survey for 400 Japanese gardens throughout Japan .
In the early 1930s he developed a sense of crisis, there was no record in documents concerning Japanese garden , so he pleaded for investigation to the Agency for cultural affairs what is now called , but they were deaf to his plea, because it was considered less importance its value at that time.
In the meantime many gardens througout western Japan were devastated by a large scale typhoon.
It was just he expected that reconstruction was extremely difficult without materials and drawing.
So he decided to research gardens by himself with a team consists of 6 members entire Japan at the time of undeveloped transpotation facilities like it is today.
He published as the results of the survey on 26-volumes of garden guide in 1939 and 33-volumes guide in 1976 .
Needless to say , their accomplishment is now indispensable asset for Japanese gardening .

He was not merely a gardener but also was an interior designer .
A Fusuma door and a pull-tab designed with checkered pattern x half-moon is so cool!
I was overwheled his ingenuity and he was so avant garde!

I definitely came to like his classic but modern garden now.
